It’s a beautiful day!

Wow, what a great day!
With several people rather sore in the legs, and several more sore in some more *Ahem* “Sensitive” areas, there was more than a little reluctance to head out this morning.
HOWEVER…
They nailed it.
While people were a little worse for wear, all attempted today, and only a couple needed assistance- Totally understandable on a 90 degree, 80 mile day from the ocean (Which whoever it was that built it, decided it should be at sea level) up into the heart of New Hampshires White Mountains, a mere 20 miles from the highest peak on the Eastern Seaboard, Mt Washington, which, after the 16 mile uphill through Crawfords Notch, will be hopefully visible in it’s entirety… There are only a handful of days each year that you can see the peak, I hope that tomorrow ends up being one of them.
We’re staying in a gorgeous slope-side hotel at Attitash, just west of, and slightly higher in elevation than the chair lifts for the old “Bear Peak” portion of the ski resort. While I’m also not sure who it was that decided to put ski areas in the mountains, I’m pretty confident that it wasn’t the same person who decided the oceans should be at sea level… BUT, I digress.

Dinner was, as usual, fantastic… Roasted Chicken, stuffed haddock, mixed green salad, couscous with veggies, broiled red potatoes with dill, and a dessert spread that looked something like pastry porn… And in the morning…

IT’S BACON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BACON! BACON! BACON! BACON!!!!

These guys have the MOST fantastic, thick sliced, super perfect bacon you’ve ever had in your LIFE, and they pile it up on the buffet like it’s cheaper than eggs… Oh, wow… We need to take a moment to ourselves to all privately celebrate good bacon…

And we’re back.

Tomorrow is a WHALE of a day- Crawfords Notch, White Mountains, Green Mountains, NH, VT, hills, 90+ miles…
And so beautiful, they wouldn’t want to miss a bit of it!

Keep the wind at your back, and the downhills in front of you

  1. Great articles – am a faithful follower – hear Greg (my son) is having a bit of a back situation – but his heart is in the right place – good luck for the rest of the ride, today sounds like a real grind.
Gotta love that bacon – you made my mouth water!!!
