Hi Gang,
Some of the veteran riders that have been with us for 5 or more years will probably remember Charlie Reed- PIC HERE He was a great guy, who for several years was on the NEC for Day 1, 2, and 7, as he wasn’t able to be with us more than that. As the years (And diabetes) caught up with him, he was less able to get around- so instead, he became a “Base station” for our HAM radio network on the days he was able to pick up our signals. He would sit at home and monitor the repeaters we use, with a list of emergency phone numbers so that he could call the local EMS if there was a situation in which they were needed, and we didn’t have cell service. While he wasn’t visible, he was still there- supporting us from behind the scenes.
Our NEC family is one valued member smaller. A position that can be filled, but a man that cannot be replaced.
His obituary can be found here.
N1VI from KB1HMZ- It’s been a pleasure. 73′s my friend.
