Winding down

Is now a good time to tell you I miss you?
You’re all a bunch of bastids (I mean that lovingly) and every single one of you bring WAAAAAAAYY too much luggage, but every single person that comes on the NEC is automatically adopted into the extended family that IS the “Caravan of Crazies” that Tim so well described.
I won’t lie to you, I’m still getting up at 5 AM or so, but I’m not dealing with hundreds of pounds of ice, dozens of cases of beverages (Adult and otherwise) and fifteen other volunteers (Many of whom are WAY too chipper considering the early our) before I get to finish my first cup of coffee.
I typically get up early, but it’s only because I have to “Wake up” and am admittedly a grumpy bastid until acceptable levels of consciousness and caffeine have set in.
Driving the Gear-Truck is kinda like hosting a party for 150 of your closest friends… We’ve all hosted a party before, so you know… Guest A says “Hey, do you have any “X”?” and as you’re going to get it for them, guest “B”, “C”, and “D” all say “Hey, do you have “X”, “Y” and “Z”?”
I’m not complaining, Just explaining…  It’s funny that some of the faces I get to recognize year after year, many of whom I really enjoy joking around with, head home on Sunday, and I’m left saying to myself: “Hey, they were pretty cool, how sad that I saw them on the bus back to Woburn”…
Fact of the matter is, every single one of us is insane… Which is why we all get along so well!
Find a few more insane bastids that you work with, hang with, or ride with, and bring them along for next year’s madness! I’d love to work twice as hard next year, because the number of riders was so great… But it’s not up to me- it’s up to YOU!
I can’t express what a great time I had this year, and I look forward to doing it again next year!
Keep the wind at your back, and the downhills in front of you,
GearMan
