Day 4, Tuesday, July 14th, 11:15 PM Capitol Plaza Hotel, Montpelier, VT

Hiya gang,
Well, I’m getting back up to speed on the news of the day, so here goes-

There are unconfirmed reports that one of our riders, name unknown, climbed the final headwall of Crawford’s Notch, only to hang a U-turn, ride a couple miles back to the bottom for the final couple miles of agony all over again… As I said, this is unconfirmed, but it’s possible that at least ONE person was crazy enough to do it.
There were several wildlife sightings over the last couple days, Yesterday, a bear, today, a fox and a pair of moose… Then of course, about eleventy gajillion cows since the VT border. Where do you think all that Cabot Cheese comes from?
We had a nice dinner, with waitstaff, and all. John picked up a birthday card for Nancy (Happy 30th Nancy!) Ryan smuggled it to me, and I tried to get it signed by all of the riders in the dining room, with Nancy sitting there, while Ryan smuggled in the cake, as he distracted Nancy with a fake call at the front desk…
Short day tomorrow, so that means a later start… No sense getting where you’re going two hours before you can check into your room. Northstar has a great pool, a sauna, a hot tub, and is an overall nice time… fun place, nice staff, and all but the last 2 miles, a really nice ride.
Conan is just about half way through his monologue, so I’m going to wrap this up, and get some sleep.

UPDATE:
The rider that did a double up Crawford’s Notch was John L… He also went off route on Day 5 to ride through the Appalachian Gap (Ap-Gap) and Lincoln- I believe that Todd and Ron went with him for at least part of this excursion. I’m not trying to call these people insane, but when climbing Crawford’s ONCE isn’t enough, and you didn’t get enough hill climbing crossing ONE Mt range, so you have too cross TWO extra ones the next day… Well, you figure it out…
