Hi Riders--I am going to chip in about rides out to the start to see if anyone is leaving from anywhere in Boston/Somerville/Cambridge or anywhere in the vicinity and would be willing to have company driving up to the start. I do all of my commuting by bike thus lack the 4 wheels and a motor that would be helpful to get up to the start! I live in Davis Sq but could get to anywhere in the vicinity for a ride if possible...

Many Thanks!

Hi all,

I am one of Leisha's two friends and unlike her the two of us are still looking for a ride-opportunity, as we rather not stay in a hotel. Would anyone still have a spot in their car for us who is leaving from the Boston area in the morning? That would be brilliant!
Thank you very much for your help,
Berni

That's what I normally do. Plus, the only thing you really need to worry about is getting your luggage from the train to the hotel. There will be other people at the hotel that can take your luggage to the starting line the next morning.

It's likely that the discount rate rooms are used up, but there should be others left (and you might get a discount for some other group like AAA or something).

There are several hotel/motels there. Red Roof, Hamilton Inn, and several others. Look for ones <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&q=motels&fb=1&split=1&gl=us&ei=F6xKSuuAIYimNtjGpaMB&radius=0.76&sll=42.50444,-71.127462&sspn=0.012371,0.029869&rq=1&ll=42.507382,-71.134501&spn=0.01237,0.029869&z=15" rel="nofollow">near Woburn Mall</a>.

Leisha,
Have you considered coming up the night before and staying in one of the package rate hotel rooms? The Anderson/Woburn Station, off the MBTA Lowell commuter line, is less than a mile from the hotel (I believe it's the Red Roof Inn, but check with Ryan to be sure) and the hotel is less than 1/2 mile from the starting line.
The commuter rail doesn't accept bikes during peak hours, but train #237 departs North Station at 6:55, is off-peak, and will put you at Anderson/Woburn at 7:19...

http://www.mbta.com/schedules_and_maps/rail/lines/?route=LOWELL&direction=O&timing=W&RedisplayTime=Redisplay+Time

With the time it would take you to ride less than a mile to the hotel, you could check in, put your bike and luggage in your room, and STILL join the other overnight riders at the Mexican restaurant next door for a little "Carbo-loading"...
Just an option, hope this helps.
Bring a light suitcase,
