T-shirts, contests and raffle prizes

Hi gang, me again…
Barbara S. had a great idea a few years ago, and I could never figure out how to make it happen… But, now, with the website that Todd made, it might possibly be the realization of her brilliant idea, without me actually having to do much. If I was smarter, I would’ve figured it out LAST year- but hey, I’m a volunteer, take it out of my pay…
Barbara’s idea: (Which she actually self started, hence the Kokomo Bull-shirt contest) Everyone comes to the NEC from their own local area- You may have a local landmark, legendary eatery, tourist attraction, heck, even a hole-in-the-wall plumbing shop…
While you’re out fundraising, Ask them if they’d donate one of their T-shirts for a raffle prize on the NEC.
We have riders from literally all over the country, and not only is it a great way to get a new t-shirt, but “Bob’s BBQ” t-shirts might be the new rage in Indiana- Or, Kentucky, or New Jersey, or New York…
Can you bring one?
(I’d LOVE to take credit for this idea, but all accolades fall on Barbara S’s shoulders)
If everyone brings something from their local area, it’d be a nice addition to the nightly raffles.
Just my thoughts, (Based on her ideas)
Gearman

    *MY*
I know how to spell “My” but sometimes, I get big fat sausage fingers…

    Steve,

You are displaying unadulterated genius by recognizing Barb’s unadulterated genius. The success of this ride is about getting everyone involved and feeling like they belong in this annual caravan of crazies. This helps accomplish that.
Maybe the slogan can be: “Give a shirt in the fight against diabetes!”

I think this could be the start of a hilarious contest… I think I can find some pretty crazy tees… “Jackman, the Switzerland of Maine”…what’s that MEAN?!?!

    Great Idea count me in.

    I’m displaying unadulterated genius?
I’d better stop that, before people start expecting more of me… I think I’ll go eat some paste now…

Wow – can I quote all these comments about me being a genius to my students next semester???

Now I guess I better go find another shirt to bring. I promise it will have nothing to do with either the Colts or the Pacers. For the Penn State fans in our group, no promises that it won’t be related to IU or Purdue! Perhaps I will find one as I tour rural southwest Indiana – anyone want a shirt from Santa Claus, IN??

Steve – Thanks for getting this going.
Tim – I love your description of the tour as a “caravan of crazies”.

    GO Boilermakers

I thought the cheer was “BOILER UP”??

(My husband and I have IU degrees and both work for IU but our paychecks are going to the Purdue bursar to pay for our son’s education – and he is getting an EXCELLENT education at that!)

Kevin – what is your connection to Purdue?

  9. GearMan says:

    Ooooooh… It’s a sports team…

I thought he was going out drinking.

  10. Kevin Sharland says:

    Hi Barbara

I don’t actually have a connection to Purdue.
But I am actually a Boilermaker.

  11. Kevin Sharland says:

Most Boilermakers root for Purdue because of the team name.

    BOILER UP!!!!!!
