Little Stephen Sehr of Indiana is all growed up. From way back when, riding as a stoker on a tandem with his mom, Barbara, until last year, putting the Connecticut speedsters to the test, Stephen has been a long-time supporter of the NEC.
Where was he this year?
Stephen is now a newly-minted freshman at Purdue University and had to spend the summer earning money towards his education and couldn’t participate this year. But he sent along a photo racing as a member of the Purdue Boilermakers cycling team.

Even though I did not make it out to NEC in 2008, I still kept the ride with me. Almost every race over the summer (including in the above picture) I wore a pair of ADA socks. Yes, I know the red and white design of the socks clashed with the black and gold of my shorts, jersey, water bottles AND bike, but they made me go fast.
Stephen – this year’s socks are yellow. I will send you a pair so you won’t clash.
Faith – You shouldn’t give him any socks unless he recruits some of his Purdue cycling friends for this year’s NEC!
